Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has officially invited SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to visit Bangladesh and introduce the Starlink satellite internet service in the country, aiming to revolutionize connectivity, especially in remote and underserved areas.

In a letter sent to Musk on February 19, Professor Yunus emphasized the transformative impact Starlink could have on Bangladesh’s infrastructure, particularly benefiting young entrepreneurs, rural communities, and vulnerable women. “Integrating Starlink’s connectivity into Bangladesh’s infrastructure will bring a transformational impact, empowering the youth and connecting remote areas,” the letter highlighted.

The Chief Adviser also encouraged Musk to meet with the young men and women of Bangladesh, who stand to gain the most from this cutting-edge technology. “Let us work together to deliver our mutual vision for a better future,” he urged.

To expedite the process, Professor Yunus appointed Dr Khalilur Rahman as his High Representative to collaborate closely with SpaceX, ensuring that all preparations for launching Starlink in Bangladesh are completed within ninety working days.

Earlier, on February 13, Professor Yunus and Elon Musk held an extensive telephonic discussion, exploring future collaborations and steps towards bringing Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet to Bangladesh.

If realized, this project could significantly enhance Bangladesh's digital landscape, bridging the connectivity gap and creating new opportunities for millions.
