On March 7, 2025, researchers, doctors, patients, and their supporters held protests across more than 30 cities in the United States, including Washington D.C. The protests, under the slogan "Stand Up for Science," were in response to the Trump administration's decision to cut funding for scientific research.

Protesters emphasized the importance of science for all of humanity, citing its critical role in saving lives through medical research and other studies. They voiced concerns about the political interference with research that has solid evidence, particularly in fields like health, weather, and climate studies. The protesters called for transparent, non-partisan research and the unrestricted sharing of scientific data with the public.
Under President Trump’s administration, government funding for scientific research has been significantly reduced, and many researchers have lost their jobs. These cuts were made in the first 47 days of his presidency, further pushing back against scientific advancements that could benefit society as a whole.
