March 7 – Rohingya villages in the northern part of Buthidaung Township are under intense pressure, with many villages being forcibly evacuated. According to reliable sources, ULA/AA forces have seized lands, homes, and farmlands belonging to the Rohingya community.
Villages such as Maunggyi Taung (Shah Bazar), Aung Lan Pyin (Mory Sar Bil), (Oli Bafara), Thayakon Tan (Shoyri Khuna), Maung Lhma (Rang Fara), Ng/Kyin Taung, Badana, Kumikhali, Mikhyaung Khwan Swer, Kountan, Laung Chaung (Rusa Na Bil), Oriya Fara, Bazar Fara, and several others in the northern region of Buthidaung Township are being forcefully evacuated by the AA group. Sources also mentioned that the Rohingya residents are being resettled in the eastern part of the Mayu river, with the intention of seizing their original lands and properties.
It is reported that many of these villagers had already been instructed by the AA group to evacuate prior to the battle in Buthidaung. While no direct military conflict took place, the AA has denied the villagers permission to return to their original settlements. Villagers from Maunggyi Taung, Ng/Kyin Taung, and Mikhyaung Khwan Swer shared this information with sources.
Further reports indicate that the ULA/AA group has seized lands and farmlands from the Rohingya community, including in Mikhyaung Khwan Swer village. One of the affected landowners stated, “AA has told us we are no longer allowed to return to our village. They have refused to allow us even to check our farmlands. They have told us we can only live where we are currently sheltered. Later, they said they would allocate us a plot of land to build a house in the eastern part of the river, about 20 by 60 feet. I have lost all the property my father and grandfather owned.”
Currently, in the Mikhyaung Khwan Swer area, the AA group is distributing lands to villagers from Kountan village (Doinet Village), who have entered and begun farming and building homes on Rohingya-owned land, according to eyewitness reports.
In the northern part of Buthidaung, ULA/AA forces have been preparing to take full control of the lands and properties, planning to resettle the affected Rohingya villagers to the eastern part of the Mayu river.
Meanwhile, records of families that fled to Bangladesh or relocated to other areas due to the Buthidaung battle are being erased. Only those currently remaining in the area are being allocated land to build houses by the ULA/AA group. Sources close to ULA/AA confirm that plans are underway to provide land for shelter to these displaced villagers.
Additionally, some Rohingya people from Mikhyaung Khwan Swer village have reportedly been arrested by the AA group. The situation is still being verified, with further details expected.
Communications in the region have been severely restricted, with phone lines and internet access cut off. Some areas are still able to communicate using Bangladeshi SIM cards, but ULA/AA forces have reportedly blocked the use of Bangladeshi SIM cards by the Rohingya, with punishments of up to four years in prison for those caught using them.
The Rohingya community in northern Buthidaung is facing significant challenges as they continue to be disconnected from external communication. Despite the difficulties, they are still trying to inform the world about their ongoing struggles.
Experts on Rohingya issues have highlighted that the situation in Buthidaung remains highly sensitive, with news from the region heavily censored.
Arakan Beacon is continuing efforts to gather more details and verify the situation in northern Buthidaung Township in collaboration with local sources.
